Dementia/Memory Care
We provide memory care designed for Residents with memory loss, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. We tailor their care based on their specific needs and behaviors, offering them respect, dignity and your peace of mind. So whether your loved ones need a little help or more due to advanced memory loss, we are here to serve you.
Mental Health and Behavioral Management Care
We will work closely with your Mental Health Provider and develop a Behavioral Care Plan to better manage your behavior, so as to provide emotional support and habit changes to improve your well-being. We have a home doctor, a psychiatrist and mental health clinicians working with us at Birdsong AFH, which is very convenient.
Assisted Living with Personalized Care
Assisted living at Birdsong is personal care in a home setting on East Hill in Kent, for no more than six Residents. Help with bathing, dressing, grooming and getting around safely, at whatever level someone actually needs. Every medication given on time and written down, refills handled, appointments coordinated with their own doctors. Home-cooked meals, laundry, and company through the day.
Independent and Retirement Living
You have the freedom to choose how you want to use your time, today and every day, giving you more time to relax and do what you love to do. Focus on the things that matter more, and at the same time receive services like room service, housekeeping, laundry service and medication management. Let us do the work for you.
Respite Care/Day Stay
Short-term care, by the day or for a longer stay. Surgery, a trip, or simply a week of rest for whoever does the caring at home. Call and we will work it out. Families come back to us for this again and again.

A room to settle into
Your loved one has their own private room they can call their own. You are welcome to bring their favorite blankets, photos or paintings to hang on the wall, and photo albums so as to reminisce old times. This will help to make their transition as smooth as possible — moving to a familiar room.
Every meal is cooked here
We offer home-cooked nutritional meals and snacks, and we cater to each Resident’s food preferences. Prior to moving in, we would appreciate a list of your favorite foods and snacks, as well as any food allergies.
Where the day actually happens
Log walls, a vaulted wood ceiling and enough seating that nobody has to sit alone. This is the room Residents spend the day in — individualized or group activities, with 179 things to do, or just company.
A deck for good weather
Somewhere to sit outside with a cup of tea, and somewhere for families to visit that is not a bedroom. Hanging baskets in summer, evergreens behind.
We offer an independent bathroom as well as a safe bathroom, featuring a comfort-height toilet with sturdy grab bars and a zero-threshold roll-in shower equipped with a non-slip floor and a handheld shower head with a comfortable shower chair.

Two ways to pay.
Private Pay
Our rates are competitive, and include a variety of services that make it easy to manage your care cost. A Care Assessment will determine the cost of care, and we can refer you to an RN Care Assessor at a reasonable cost.
Medicaid
We accept Medicaid and Medicaid Conversion. We work closely with DSHS (the Department of Social and Health Services) and with Home and Community Services case managers and social workers — we take care of all the details, so your transition will be smooth.

What is the difference between an adult family home and an assisted living facility?
An assisted living facility is usually a large building of private apartments, often a hundred or more, with staff available as needed. An adult family home is located in a Residential area with a maximum of eight Residents. The care is more personable, the caregivers are familiar faces rather than a rotating roster, and home cooked meals are served.
For someone living with dementia, that consistency usually matters more than the amenities.
